Devon House Heritage Site is pulling together an unforgettable package for patrons to its third annual Friday fish festival scheduled for April 29, 2005. Cavan and Diana Rutherford finalists from Rising Star Fame 2004 are the headline acts for this year’s event, which will again see the popular Hellshire Fishing Village providing appetizing meals of fish, bammy and festival for visitors to Devon House. Organizer of the event, Devon House Development Company has promised that patrons can expect to relax in the usual breathtaking ambiance of the East Lawn and enjoy an evening of non-stop musical entertainment provided by one of Jamaica’s leading discos.

The Devon House Friday Fish Festival is among several fund-raising activities planned for 2005 to assist with the ongoing restoration working taking place at the 124 year old heritage site. Patrons to Devon House are to benefit from improved lawn and garden spaces, as proceeds from this year’s event will go directly towards completing repairs to the property’s irrigation system at a cost of $500,000.00. Work has been completed in the Formal Gardens and the Devon House Courtyard. The East, North and South Lawns are to be completed later in the year.

Established by the Government of Jamaica in February 2002, Devon House Development Company has overseen the re-development project, as well as manage and promote the Devon House property as a premier attraction in the capital city. Devon House Development Company has successfully overseen restoration work on the courtyard shops, which were damaged by fire in early 2002, as well as introduce five new stores in the Courtyard bringing to 13 the number of shops and restaurants open to patrons. In addition restoration work on the Great House has been progressing steadily. The re-development programme taking place at Devon House is aimed at positioning the property as a centre for culture and a leading heritage tourism site in Kingston.
