One hundred and twenty three years ago, in 1881 George Stiebel laid the foundation for the magnificent Devon House, after amassing his wealth from investments in Gold Mines in Venezuela. After the building was completed the magnificent days of Devon House began, and for many years to come the home was the scene of many lavish parties. Devon House became an enviable landmark in the city. Little did Stiebel know that decades later his home would become one of the most prominent architectural monuments in Jamaica. Certainly he would not have imagined that the acreage surrounding the Great House would become an oasis in the city for Jamaicans, a place where dreams unfold, relationships are born, milestones celebrated and a place for new beginnings.
